Returned to DHR after a two-year sabbatical to do research and write my book while also coaching and recruiting executives.  Built and managed a service line at DHR that provided my innovative Executive Integration ("pre-boarding") process as a value added feature of our global executive recruiting services.  The executive integration process is detailed in my book, Before Onboarding:  How to Integrate New Leaders for Quick and Sustained Results.  Continued to serve clients as an executive recruiter in a variety of markets, including Healthcare, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, Aerospace & Defense and Nonprofits.

Highest producing DHR retained executive recruiter in this area market for eight years. Over 100 executive placements from medical director to public company CEO in the US, Asia and Europe.  Industries served included healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, aerospace/defense, nonprofits and higher education.  Tripled the office's revenue and doubled the size of the staff.  Relocated on two occasions to accommodate growth.

Directly supported the executive teams of three subordinate companies.

Built a specialty in developing and coaching physician leaders and other clinicians in leadership positions (as well as senior executives and high-potentials throughout the company).  Developed hundreds of them throughout the US.  Program was accredited for continuing medical education units (CME) by Washington University in St Louis School of Medicine and the Texas College of Emergency Medicine.  Was later retained as an outside consultant to provide the same program to the company that acquired the organization's emergency medical services division (EMCARE).  Developed, implemented and refined a New Leader Integration process designed to ensure that new leaders entering existing organizations within the company were able to hit the ground running and get the right results quickly while avoiding costly mistakes.

Built a start-up company that focused on staffing ICUs and providing hospitalists to client hospitals. Managed the physician recruiting function for both ICM and and the parent company, Emergency Medical Care (EMC).  Started and managed a contingency physician recruiting company within ICM that focused on placing military physicians as they transitioned to the private sector.  Left this position to return to the organization development field for a larger company in this market.

Built and opened a 13,000 square foot, world class training and conference center that provided IT product training to our healthcare clients as well as product, sales and leadership development training for our sales and client services employees.  Co-developed with Andersen Consulting a Healthcare Industry Training School that trained all of the company's sales and field support staff.   Developed a course curriculum for clients (new system start-up courses as well as electives) and employees (corporate university concept).  Actively involved in relocating 600+ families from St. Louis, MO to Charlotte, NC, ensuring that there was no break in service for training customers.  Operated a data processing center from the St. Louis training and conference facility during Hurricane Hugo that ensured system continuity for over 300 hospital clients.

Managed a $20MM health systems pilot program for the Department of Veterans Health Affairs, including the installation and daily operations of a totally integrated off-the-shelf clinical health information system at the VA Medical Center in Saginaw, MI.  Later led the business development function for the company.

Joined McDonnell Douglas after leaving the Army.  Was the youngest director in this corporation.  Managed all training and organization development functions as well as the writing of all of the company's product user manuals.  Was later promoted to Director of Human Resources and Administration and retained responsibility for staff and organization development and technical documentation.  Employees in the departments I led increased from 46 to 84.  When the company decided to enter the federal health information systems market I was moved to be the Director of Business Planning to pursue a proof of concept contract with the Department of Veteran's Health Affairs.  Once the contract was awarded I managed this $20MM program as Director of Program Management, following this postion to the newly formed McDonnell Douglas Federal Systems Company.
